The machines and technology matter. But the reason behind the work has always been people.
HOW IT STARTED
Long before Etchline NYC had a name, there was already a love of making things, solving problems and learning by doing.
It started with curiosity — making, testing, fixing, experimenting and wondering, “What happens if I try this?”
Hands-on making goes back to high school metal shop and grew over the years through design, technology and learning new tools.
Making eventually became something shared at home too — exploring ideas, experimenting with technology, creating things that felt useful and turning “wouldn’t it be cool if...” into real objects.
That spirit still shapes Etchline NYC today: curious, collaborative and willing to keep trying until an idea works.
CURIOSITY FOUND BETTER TOOLS
Laser engraving opened a new way to take everyday objects and make them personal — names, dates, messages, logos and details that give an object a story.
3D printing expanded that idea even further. Suddenly we could make the object itself: keychains, fidgets, fan pieces, tags, useful tools, displays, trophies and ideas that did not exist until someone imagined them.
Different tools. Same reason: make something that means more to the person receiving it.
PEOPLE BEFORE PRODUCTS
A name on a bottle can be more than decoration. A keychain can remind someone of their favorite team. A small tag can carry information a family needs. A party favor can become the thing a child clips onto a backpack for months.
We pay attention to those details because that is where personalization becomes connection.
DIFFERENT WAYS OF THINKING MATTER
Etchline NYC has been shaped by neurodivergent perspectives, family life and firsthand experience with the fact that people learn, communicate, notice details and solve problems in different ways.
That influences how we design, how we problem-solve, how we explain things and why accessibility, flexibility and usefulness matter to us.

Our work has traveled into corporate offices, family events, community programs, brand activations, watch parties, celebrations and everyday gifts — but Brooklyn remains home.
WHAT MATTERS TO US
The details matter because someone is going to receive, wear, use or remember what we make.
We keep learning, testing and asking whether there is a better way to make something work.
Technology may create the piece, but people give it meaning.
Different people need different things. We want our work and communication to leave room for that.

Etchline Cares grew from the belief that creativity and technology should not only exist behind a storefront.
Hands-on making can encourage confidence, curiosity, problem-solving and connection — especially when people are given room to explore without needing to do everything the same way.
